Feedback system thanks!

I wanted to take a moment to thank all of the merchants who have already taken advantage of our new feedback system over the first few days of its launch.  We are receiving excellent feedback and ideas from all merchants and are now able to see a clearer picture of what is most important and should definitely be on our product roadmap.  The feedback we have received so far is excellent but the percentage of merchants who have responded so far is small.  If you have not yet taken a moment to visit the new feedback system please do so and join in on the discussion and tell us what you are looking for.  We would love to hear from more of you.

New Feedback System

We are excited to announce a new way to gather feedback from valuable merchants like yourself.

Introducing the feedback tab.  This tab is now on the side of all administrative pages.  Click on the tab from any page while editing your store to see the current top feedback from other merchants and visit our feedback forum to add your own ideas, vote on others ideas and more.

Each store receives up to 10 total votes.  These votes can be used to help show us what is important to you.

This new feedback system will be replacing our current feature request list so we encourage all merchants to add your ideas here.  We are excited that merchants can view others ideas and show their support for those ideas.

It is our hope that this new system will help us to be even more receptive to suggestions and requests from merchants like yourself.

Features are chosen for implementation based on a balance of what is most important to our merchants and the time required to add such a feature.  For instance if a feature would only take a few days to add it would need less support to be added then a feature which would require months to add.

A big thank you goes out to all of our wonderful merchants who have always taken the time to share their ideas and feedback to make StoreSecured great.

The order search page has been enhanced to support searching not just by a particular order id or customer id but also >= and <= a particular customer and order id.

How to switch to the new shipping system

Did you know, its easy to switch to the new shipping system?

Do you want to use the new shipping system but don’t want to have to recreate all of your shipping methods?  Just place a support request asking to have your shipping transferred from the old to the new shipping area and we will transfer your current shipping methods for you.  We still recommend that merchants review their shipping methods after the transfer but this will get you going quickly on the new shipping system.  This will not impact your old shipping methods in anyway and you can switch back to the old shipping system if needed.

New Features Added (Shipping Coupons)

Coupons

To all merchants who have requested shipping coupons, we are happy to report that they are now available.
To add a shipping coupon

  1. Visit Marketing–>Coupons–>Add
  2. Add a coupon as you would normally but under Discount Available on, choose Shipping as the type
  3. Pick the shipping methods that the discount should apply to
  4. Hit Save

The coupon can now be used at checkout just like a regular coupon.

**Note that shipping coupons are ONLY valid for merchants using the NEW shipping system.  If you have not switched we encourage you to do so now.**

Additional new coupon functionality includes:

  • Added the ability to set a coupon to only apply to a particular customer group or groups
  • Modified coupon handling on multi-shipment orders to disperse coupon amount to each individual order instead of showing all coupon discounts on the first order.

Copy Added

Copy functionality has been added for Coupons, Departments and Promotions to enable quick creation of new records.  Copy links are located in the top right hand area of the edit screen.

New Login Settings

Added the ability to capture billing and shipping information on a single page versus 2 separate pages.  By default all current stores will use the old separate registration pages unless explicitly changed to the new setting.

Added the ability for merchants to setup their store to allow shoppers to see items but not add to the cart or see prices until registered.  This is a special setting for stores which do not want shoppers to be able to purchase items until they register.

Both new settings are available under General–>Login Settings

Field Limits Increased

The field limits on the following pages have been increased to accommodate more content.

Shipping Issue 3/22

We regret to inform our merchants that from 12:30am – 8:30am this morning several StoreSecured merchants were experiencing shipping issues.  This issue impacted only merchants who were using the OLD shipping system.  During this time the system was incorrectly using the new shipping system for all merchants even those who had not chosen to use it.

How can I tell what shipping system I am using?
Go to shipping–>settings
There is a box labeled Use new shipping system
If this is checked you are using the NEW shipping system and were NOT impacted.
If this is not checked you are using the OLD shipping system and may have been impacted.

What happened during this time?
For merchants who are using the old shipping system, the system incorrectly pulled shipping rules from the new shipping system for your store.  For most merchants this is most likely not an issue because when the new shipping system was added the rules for all merchants were copied from your existing old shipping system to the new shipping system so in many cases there is no difference.

How did this happen?
During a scheduled update an error was introduced affecting the OLD shipping methods.

Has the issue been fixed?
Yes, the issue was corrected as of approximately 8:30am this morning and all systems are currently operating as normal.

How do I know it will not happen again?
We have added additional test cases to our release process to check for this condition and will be revisiting our testing process.

We sincerely apologize to all merchants who were impacted by this issue.

New Item Pages Speed Improvements

We would love to hear your feedback on the new item pages.  Our staff has worked hard to improve the load speed of the edit and search based on customer feedback that they were previously too slow.

Added Shipping and Taxes Copy

March 15, 2010

Added the ability to copy existing tax rates and shipping methods.  The copy allows you to create shipping rates and taxes that are similar to existing rates.

To create a copy:

  1. Click on the edit link for the tax rate or shipping method you wish to copy
  2. Click on the copy link, located at the top right
  3. The existing rate will be copied, with the word copy added to the end
  4. Make any necessary changes to the new shipping method/tax
  5. Hit Save

Note that this feature applies to the new shipping methods.
