The new email password requirements previously explained are now required for all email accounts. The next time you login via web mail you will be required to update your password if it does not currently meet the new requirements. Please read the previous blog post about the new email password requirements for any questions or clarifications regarding the new policy, requirements etc.
Password requirement overview:
Must include at least one of each of the following: uppercase and lowercase letter, number, and symbol. Must be at least 7 characters long and must not be your username.
Can I be excluded?
Several customers have asked if they can be excluded from the requirements, unfortunately that is not possible. The mail server is a commercial product and either we enable the password requirements or not, it cannot be enabled on a per account basis. We are sorry for any inconvenience this causes but the new password complexity requirements should better protect all accounts and it’s important to enforce this system wide. Remember if a hacker can guess your password they have easy access to your account.
What if I don’t use web mail?
If you do not login or use web mail you will not be prompted to change your password and your account will continue to work. We ask that you login to webmail at your convenience to update your passwords and ensure your security.
